CHAPTER 3 — SILENCE PROTOCOL

Adrian moved like a storm breaking its restraint.
In one motion, every exit was blocked.
Bodyguards sealed the room.
But the man didn’t run.
He didn’t even step back.
Instead, he looked at Emma.
“That woman,” he said quietly. “She’s the anomaly. Not you, Romano.”
Emma froze.
The baby’s breathing stayed steady—but Emma could feel the system under it now.
A hidden rhythm.
A structure.
A machine disguised as life.
Adrian stepped closer to Emma, not taking his eyes off the man.
“Can you stop it?” he asked her.
Emma hesitated.
For the first time, her calm broke slightly.
“I don’t know yet,” she admitted. “But I can isolate it.”
The man smiled again.
“You won’t have time.”
He pressed the device again.
This time—
The entire restaurant went silent.
Not metaphorically.
Physically.
Phones died.
Lights dimmed.
Security systems shut down.
Even the sound of breathing seemed swallowed.
Emma looked down.
The baby was still alive.
But now—
Completely disconnected from everything.
A perfect silence protocol had been activated.
And she realized the terrifying truth.
This wasn’t the beginning of an attack.
It was the final phase.
Adrian turned to her.
For the first time, uncertainty crossed his face.
And Emma whispered:
“If this silence holds for more than sixty seconds… we lose control of everything he’s connected to.”
She looked at the baby.
Then at the man.
May you like
And added quietly:
“And I think that’s exactly what he came here to do.”
