CHAPTER 2 — The Vault of Lies

Minutes later.
The girl sat in a private room upstairs, wrapped in a soft coat.
The man stood by the window, phone in hand.
His voice was low, dangerous.
Man: “Open the family vault records.”
A pause.
Then—
Man: “All of them.”
Behind him, the woman in blue entered without knocking.
Woman in blue: “You’re really doing this? Over a random child?”
He didn’t turn.
Man: “Over my sister.”
She scoffed.
Woman in blue: “You’re insane. That girl is—”
He slammed the phone onto the table.
A file opened on the screen.
A birth record.
A sealed transfer document.
A name.
Lena Whitmore.
The woman’s face changed instantly.
Woman in blue (quietly): “That file… should’ve been destroyed.”
The man turned slowly.
Man: “So you admit it.”
She froze.
Then tried to recover.
Woman in blue: “It was for the family’s protection. She was weak. Sick. She would’ve damaged the reputation—”
His voice cut through hers.
Man: “You erased a child.”
A long silence.
Then—
Man: “Where is my father?”
May you like
The woman hesitated too long.
That was the answer.
