CHAPTER 2 — “The Name Behind the Silence”

Lucas finally bent down.
He picked up his broken tray piece by piece.
Calm.
Controlled.
Too controlled.
Samuel stepped closer.
“Don’t touch that,” Samuel said softly.
Lucas stopped immediately.
That single sentence made Richard’s stomach tighten.
Samuel exhaled.
Then turned fully toward Richard.
“You slapped him,” Samuel said.
“Yes,” Richard answered coldly. “Because he’s a waiter who doesn’t know his place.”
Samuel didn’t react.
Instead, he reached into his jacket.
Pulled out a small black cardholder.
He placed it on a clean patch of marble.
Then slowly opened it.
Inside—
A government clearance badge.
Richard squinted.
Then read the name.
His face changed instantly.
Lucas Bennett.
Not waiter.
Not staff.
A classified consultant attached to international security contracts.
Richard’s throat tightened.
“That’s impossible…” he whispered.
Samuel stepped closer.
“You didn’t slap a waiter,” he said.
“You assaulted someone who can shut down this entire hotel with one phone call.”
Lucas finally spoke.
Quiet.
May you like
Calm.
“You should’ve asked first.”
