DON’T LOOK AT HER / Chapter 2 / 3

CHAPTER 2 — HE NEVER NEEDED TO PROVE IT

The music in the club still played, but it felt far away now.

Like reality had shifted into something else.

One of the security guards swallowed hard.
“Sir… we didn’t know you were—”

The man raised his hand slightly.

A simple gesture.

Enough to stop him from speaking.

“I don’t need explanations,” he said.

Then he turned slightly toward Jack.

For the first time, Jack felt it.

Not anger.

Not threat.

Control.

Pure, effortless control.

“You reacted fast,” the man said calmly.
“That’s not a bad instinct.”

Jack frowned. “Who the hell are you?”

A beat.

The man looked at him for a long moment.

Then replied:

“Someone who doesn’t usually get interrupted when he walks into a room.”

A silence dropped.

Then one of the guards quietly said:

“…He’s the founder.”

That was it.

No dramatic announcement.

No flashing reveal.

Just truth.

And it hit harder than anything else.

Jack’s expression changed instantly. Not fear—but realization. The kind that arrives too late.

The man in the white shirt wasn’t a stranger in the wrong place.

He was the reason places like this existed.

He glanced at Jack’s girlfriend once more—but not in the way Jack thought earlier.

Not desire.

Not disrespect.

Just observation.

Then he said:

“Protecting someone is fine.”

A pause.

“But confusing insecurity with threat… will always cost you.”

And with that, he turned away.
