CHAPTER 2 — “WHEN THE FAMILY ARRIVED”

The hallway outside Room 237 filled with voices.
Confused.
Urgent.
Growing louder.
Then silence.
And finally—
Knocking.
Three sharp hits.
My groom flinched.
The maid of honor lowered her head like she wanted to disappear into the mattress.
I walked to the door.
Opened it.
And saw them.
His father at the front.
A man who once shook hands with politicians without smiling.
Behind him—his mother, eyes already searching the room.
And others.
Too many to pretend this was casual.
The father stepped inside first.
“What is the meaning of this?”
I didn’t answer.
I simply stepped aside.
So they could see.
Their son.
Half-dressed.
Caught.
Frozen in shame he couldn’t negotiate his way out of.
The mother gasped.
“No…”
Then she saw her.
My maid of honor.
And something in her expression collapsed instantly.
The groom finally spoke.
“Dad, it’s not—”
His father raised one hand.
Silence.
Not angry.
Worse.
Controlled.
The kind of silence that ends careers.
He turned slowly toward me.
And asked one question:
“What do you want from us?”
I looked at all of them.
Then at the man I was supposed to marry.
And said:
“I want you to understand exactly what you raised.”
The room went dead still.
Then my phone lit up again.
Unknown number.
One message.
From a lawyer.
“Don’t leave that room. We’ve been expecting this.”
CLIFHANGER END:
The groom’s father slowly turned pale.
May you like
Because he recognized the name on the message.
And it wasn’t his.
