CHAPTER 3 — The Truth Beneath the Marriage

The penthouse became a crime scene before sunrise.

Victoria was no longer in the room. She had been taken into custody.

But the message was already burning in my mind.

“She’s out of the way now. The daughter is next.”

My legal head, Mason, stood beside me.

“We checked her background,” he said carefully. “It’s not clean.”

I didn’t respond.

He continued.

“Financial links. Hidden accounts. Transfers routed through offshore shells. Someone was paying her.”

I finally looked at him.

“Who?”

He hesitated.

“That’s what we’re tracing.”

Downstairs, Lily was asleep under sedation.

A doctor told me she would survive physically.

But he didn’t mention the other part.

Because he didn’t have to.

I already knew.

When I sat beside her bed, her hand twitched slightly.

Even unconscious, she reached for me.

That broke something I didn’t know I still had.

And that’s when I made the decision.

Not as a husband.

Not as a father.

But as the man who built an empire that people thought was untouchable.

I leaned toward Mason.

“Find everyone she spoke to.”

He nodded.

“And then?”

I looked at my daughter.

Peaceful for the first time that day.

Then I answered.

“Burn the entire network to the ground.”
