CHAPTER 4 — CARMEN’S HOUSE OF GLASS

Carmen’s mansion sat at the edge of the city like it owned everything beneath it.

White stone.

Tall gates.

Security cameras watching every angle.

A perfect house.

A perfect lie.

Inside, Carmen poured wine with a steady hand.

Javier stood near the window, pale, restless.

“She left,” he said again. “We should just let it go.”

Carmen didn’t even look at him.

“She didn’t leave.”

She smiled slightly.

“She escaped.”

The word sounded like an insult.

Then her phone rang.

She answered without checking the caller ID.

“Yes?”

A pause.

Her expression changed.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Because on the other end, a voice spoke only two words:

“She’s found.”

Carmen froze.

For the first time that night…

Her confidence cracked.

And somewhere outside the gates—

Engines started.

Not arriving.

Surrounding.

ENDING — THE NIGHT EVERYTHING BREAKS

Alexander stood in front of Carmen’s gates alone.

No negotiation.

No warning.

Only silence.

Behind him, Sofia was safe.

Behind him, I finally understood what kind of man my ex-husband had become.

Not a businessman.

Not a father in the usual sense.

Something far more dangerous.

The gates began to open slowly.

Carmen appeared at the entrance, still holding her wine glass.

She smiled when she saw him.

“Alejandro,” she said calmly. “It’s been years.”

Alexander didn’t return the smile.

He looked past her.

Past the house.

Past everything she thought mattered.

And then he spoke.

Quietly.

Cold enough to stop time.

“You touched my daughter.”

A pause.

Carmen’s smile faded slightly.

“You don’t understand—”

But she never finished.

Because Alexander took one step forward.

And every man behind him moved at the same time.

The night didn’t explode.

It collapsed.

And inside that silence—

Carmen finally realized something terrifying.

This wasn’t about Sofia’s condo anymore.

May you like

It was about what happens when you hurt the one thing a broken man rebuilt his entire life around.
