Chapter 2 — The Video Everyone Thought Had Been Deleted

The television flickered once.
Twice.
Then the living room fell into complete silence.
Margaret's confident smile disappeared.
Emily frowned.
"Harper... what are you playing?"
The little girl didn't answer.
She simply held the remote with both hands.
"I found it on Grandma's tablet."
A grainy security video filled the screen.
Yesterday's date flashed across the corner.
The camera overlooked the family kitchen.
Everyone watched Margaret enter alone.
She looked around carefully.
Made sure nobody was watching.
Then she walked straight toward the refrigerator.
Inside sat the purple butterfly cake Emily had spent all night making.
Margaret opened a small bottle from her purse.
Without hesitation...
She poured a dark liquid across the frosting.
Gasps echoed around the room.
Emily covered her mouth.
"No..."
Margaret's face turned ghost white.
"That's edited!"
She lunged toward the television.
Harper stepped back.
The video kept playing.
Margaret calmly closed the bottle.
Placed the ruined cake back inside the refrigerator.
Then smiled.
The timestamp never skipped.
No cuts.
No edits.
One guest quietly whispered,
"So she planned this before the party even started..."
Another parent slowly pulled their child closer.
Margaret grabbed the remote from Harper's hands—
—but before she could turn off the television...
A second video began automatically.
This one showed something far worse.
May you like
And Margaret screamed.
