The Man in the White Shirt / Chapter 3 / 4

CHAPTER 4: THE FLOOR THAT DIDN’T EXIST ON PAPER

The elevator doors opened to the top floor.

No signage.

No company logo.

Just a long corridor of glass and silence.

At the end of it stood a conference room.

Inside, eight executives were already waiting.

They didn’t stand up.

They didn’t smile.

They were afraid.

One of them finally spoke.

“We weren’t expecting you today.”

The man in white stepped inside.

“No,” he said. “You weren’t.”

He placed a thin folder on the table.

Inside were acquisition records, offshore transfers, internal emails.

Everything.

One executive swallowed hard. “That’s… classified.”

The man in white tilted his head slightly.

“So is fraud,” he replied.

Silence dropped instantly.

A woman at the table tried to recover. “We can explain—”

“No,” he interrupted gently.

That was the most terrifying part.

He wasn’t raising his voice.

He didn’t need to.

He slid one final document forward.

A signature page.

Already pre-filled.

The final acquisition order.

TechNova was no longer being negotiated.

It had already been decided.

One executive whispered:

“You planned this for how long?”

The man in white looked out the glass wall, over Miami.

May you like

Then answered simply:

“Long enough for you to forget I was ever involved.”
