CHAPTER 1 — THE SILENT FILE

The room didn’t move.

But the truth already did.

Julian Vale stood still, eyes locked on Seraphina’s trembling breath. One second. Two. Then his gaze shifted—slow, surgical—to Vivian Hart.

Not anger.

Not shock.

Recognition.

Vivian felt it.

That tiny shift in his expression.

And for the first time that night, her confidence cracked.

But only for a second.

She recovered fast.

Tears returned. Controlled. Precise.

“She pushed me first,” Vivian repeated, softer now. “Julian… I was defending myself.”

The hospital coordinator lowered her eyes.

No one wanted to speak first.

That’s how the ultra-wealthy survived scandals.

Silence.

But silence didn’t last long.

A subtle beep echoed from Julian’s wrist device.

Incoming secure alert.

VALE FAMILY SECURITY FEED: ACTIVE

Julian didn’t move.

He already knew what it meant.

Seraphina, still on the floor, whispered weakly:

“Don’t… let her touch me again…”

That broke something in him.

Not emotionally.

Strategically.

Julian turned slightly.

“Lock the building,” he said coldly.

Two bodyguards entered instantly.

May you like

Vivian froze.

That wasn’t part of her plan.
