CHAPTER 3 — CONSEQUENCE

Vivian stepped back.
Slowly.
Carefully.
Like distance could erase evidence.
“This is manipulated,” she said quickly. “Julian, you know me—”
“No,” Julian interrupted.
One word.
Flat.
Final.
The room went silent again.
But different this time.
Not confusion.
Not tension.
Decision.
Julian walked forward.
Each step slow.
Controlled.
He stopped in front of Vivian.
Close enough that she had to look up.
“You didn’t misunderstand my wife,” he said quietly.
A pause.
“You targeted her.”
Vivian tried to breathe.
Nothing came out clean.
Rafael stepped aside.
Two security agents entered.
But before they moved—
Vivian suddenly laughed.
A small, broken sound.
“You think this ends here?” she whispered.
Her eyes lifted.
Not afraid anymore.
Just sharp.
“You have no idea who helped me come here.”
That line changed the air.
Julian didn’t blink.
Rafael did.
For the first time.
A new variable entered the equation.
Vivian raised her chin slightly.
And added:
“This wasn’t personal.”
A pause.
“It was arranged.”
Silence dropped heavier than before.
Julian’s eyes narrowed.
“By who?”
Vivian smiled faintly.
Not victory.
Warning.
And then—
The suite lights flickered once.
All screens in the room turned black.
Including the surveillance feed.
The recording stopped.
Rafael stared at the device.
“…They just cut remote access.”
Julian slowly turned toward the glass wall.
Across the skyline.
A single building opposite the hospital lit up.
Red.
Like a signal.
Vivian whispered softly behind them:
“I told you…”
May you like
Another pause.
“…you don’t understand what you married into.”
