Chapter 1: The Footage That Ruined Her

The security footage filled the entire wall.

No one breathed.

On the screen, Vivian Blackwood stood in her emerald gown, smiling as she crushed her heel into Clara Whitmore’s wrist.

Every insult echoed clearly.

Every shove.

Every threat.

Every second of cruelty.

Clara’s trembling voice came through the speakers.

“Please… don’t hurt my baby.”

Then Vivian’s voice followed, cold and sharp.

“This house and everything in it is mine.”

The room turned to stone.

The lawyers lowered their eyes.

The executives stepped back.

The servants who had been too afraid to move began crying silently.

Vivian’s face lost all color.

“No,” she whispered. “That’s edited. Ethan, please—”

Ethan Hale did not even look at her.

He stood beside Clara, holding her carefully in his arms, his jaw tight with controlled fury.

“You touched my wife,” he said quietly.

Vivian froze.

The word wife struck the room harder than thunder.

Clara looked up through tears.

She had hidden the truth for months because Ethan’s enemies were everywhere. Their marriage had been private for her safety. But now, the secret no longer mattered.

Vivian staggered backward.

“Your… wife?”

Ethan’s eyes were ice.

“And the child she’s carrying is my son.”

A champagne glass slipped from someone’s hand and shattered across the marble.

Vivian shook her head wildly.

“No. She’s nobody. She was never supposed to—”

“Enough.”

Ethan’s voice was calm, but every person in the penthouse felt the danger in it.

He turned to his chief of security.

“Call the police. Lock the building. No one leaves until every statement is taken.”

Vivian tried to run.

Two officers stopped her before she reached the elevator.

For the first time that night, the woman who had treated Clara like dirt began to scream.

But no one came to save her.

Not one person.

Ethan carried Clara past the crowd, past the broken glass, past the people who had watched her suffer in silence.

At the elevator, Clara gripped his jacket weakly.

“She said everyone would believe her.”

Ethan lowered his forehead to hers.

“Then everyone will learn the truth.”

And as the elevator doors closed, Vivian’s screams faded behind them.

But the damage she had done was not finished.

Not yet.

Because upstairs, in Ethan’s private office, another camera had recorded something far worse.
