CHAPTER 2 — “The Ashcroft Collapse Protocol”

The first convoy arrived in silence.
Black vehicles.
No logos.
No announcements.
Just authority.
The estate guards tried to move forward—
but stopped when they saw the man stepping out.
My father.
Alistair Voss.
The kind of billionaire whose name never needed headlines because it owned the companies that made headlines possible.
He didn’t look angry.
He looked disappointed.
That was worse.
Lucas met him halfway down the marble steps.
“This is private property,” Lucas said quickly. “You have no jurisdiction here.”
Alistair looked at him for a long moment.
Then smiled faintly.
“I don’t need jurisdiction,” he said. “I have ownership.”
He raised his hand slightly.
Behind him, a tablet lit up.
A live feed.
Stocks.
Board votes.
Acquisition transfers.
All flashing in real time.
Lucas’s phone buzzed violently.
Then again.
Then again.
Elena grabbed his arm.
“Lucas… what is happening?”
His face changed as he read.
Asset freeze.
Board emergency dissolution.
Investor withdrawal.
Media exposure protocols activated.
One by one.
His empire was being peeled apart in real time.
Like it had never been stable at all.
Lucas looked at me.
“No…” he whispered.
I stepped forward.
“You said I was a liability,” I said quietly.
A pause.
“I was never on your balance sheet.”
The estate lights flickered.
May you like
Somewhere inside the system—
a final trigger activated.
