Chapter 6: The Last Lie

Gloria’s lawyer tried to paint her as a lonely woman who had “lost control.”
Then the estate documents surfaced.
The missing money.
The forged signatures.
The hidden letters.
The manipulation.
The courtroom grew colder with every piece of evidence.
Gloria sat perfectly still, but her eyes kept cutting toward me.
Still blaming me.
Still waiting for me to save her.
Then Lily took the stand.
She walked slowly, one hand resting on her belly.
Her voice shook at first.
Then it steadied.
“She didn’t hurt me all at once,” Lily said. “She did it slowly. A comment here. A punishment there. A meal taken away. A door closed. A threat whispered when no one else could hear.”
The courtroom went silent.
“She made me feel like disappearing would be easier than speaking.”
I closed my eyes.
When I opened them, Gloria was staring at Lily with pure hatred.
The judge saw it.

Everyone saw it.
That was Gloria’s final mistake.
