CHAPTER 1 — THE WORD THAT SHOULD NOT EXIST

The beach was no longer a party.
The music had dropped into a low distorted hum, like something broken in the background of reality. Phones were still recording, but nobody was dancing anymore.
Jack stood frozen, gripping the stranger’s collar.
The stranger didn’t resist. He only smiled—calm, almost pitying.
But Jack wasn’t looking at him anymore.
He was looking at her.
His girlfriend.
Her hands were shaking now. Not from fear of Jack—but from something deeper. Something exposed.
“Jack…” she whispered again, stepping back into the neon-lit shadows. “You don’t understand—”
“Then explain,” Jack snapped. “Right now.”
The waves hit the shore louder. The fire torches flickered like they were about to go out.
The stranger finally leaned closer to Jack, voice low enough that only he could hear:
“You think she’s your girlfriend…”
A pause.
“But she’s not who you think she is.”
Jack’s grip tightened.
And then—
the girlfriend suddenly said something that shattered everything:
“That name… I never wanted you to hear it again.”
Silence.
Not just around them.
But in Jack’s mind.
Because he remembered it.
May you like
A summer. Three years ago. A night he never told anyone about.
And a mistake he thought was buried forever.
