CHAPTER 2 — “THE SECOND TRUTH”

A second video appeared.
Angle: underwater reflection camera.
Juliette’s voice echoed through the courtyard speakers.
Cold. Calm. Unrecognizable.
“She won’t survive long enough to inherit anything.”
Silence collapsed over the space.
A guest who had been watching from the terrace dropped their glass.
Emma clutched Christopher’s shirt tighter.
Juliette’s breathing became uneven now. Real panic breaking through the mask.
“That’s not me…” she whispered. “That’s not my voice.”
Christopher stepped forward for the first time.
Each step slow. Heavy.
“You made one mistake,” he said quietly.
Juliette shook her head rapidly. “Christopher, please—listen to me—”
But he didn’t stop.
“You forgot I installed audio sync recording after your first lie.”
The screen changed again.
This time: a bank transfer log.
Juliette’s private account.
A single incoming transaction:
$1,000,000 — “After the incident is completed.”
The courtyard erupted into shocked murmurs.
Juliette turned pale.
“No…” she whispered. “No, that’s not—”
Christopher looked at her like she was already gone.

“You didn’t just try to kill my daughter,” he said.
“You tried to buy her death.”
