Chapter 15 - THE DAUGHTER NOBODY BURIED

The screen remained black.

But Alejandro Moretti could still hear her voice.

“Daddy…”

One word.

Only one word.

Yet it destroyed three years of certainty.

Three years of grief.

Three years of believing he had buried his daughter beneath cold stone and flowers.

Nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

Even the sound of gunfire outside seemed distant.

Because inside that room, Alejandro was no longer the feared mafia don.

He was just a father who had heard the voice of a child he thought he lost forever.

Bruno looked at him carefully.

“Boss…”

Alejandro raised his hand.

Stop.

The entire room obeyed.

His eyes remained locked on the dead screen.

“Replay it.”

Daniel shook his head.

“It was a live feed.”

“Find the source.”

“We’re trying.”

Alejandro turned.

“No.”

His voice became colder.

“You are finding it.”

Nobody questioned him.

Because everyone heard the difference.

This was not anger.

This was something more dangerous.

Hope.

And hope could make powerful men do impossible things.

Daniel moved toward the computers.

His fingers moved quickly across the keyboard.

“The signal came from inside the city.”

Bruno frowned.

“Inside?”

Daniel nodded.

“Yes.”

“That means…”

Alejandro finished.

“Someone wanted me to see it.”

A silence followed.

Because that changed everything.

The person behind the attack was not hiding.

They were sending a message.

A cruel one.

A personal one.

Olivia stood near Emma.

The little girl had been silent since the video disappeared.

Alejandro noticed.

He walked toward her.

Emma looked up.

“Was that your little girl?”

Nobody expected the question.

Alejandro stopped.

For a moment, he had no answer.

Then he slowly nodded.

“Yes.”

Emma looked down.

“She looked sad.”

Alejandro’s expression changed.

“She was.”

Emma hugged her rabbit.

“Maybe she was waiting for you.”

The words hurt more than any wound.

Alejandro closed his eyes briefly.

Because a four-year-old child had just said the one thing he was afraid to believe.

That Kiara had not forgotten him.

That she had been waiting.

Daniel suddenly stopped typing.

Everyone looked at him.

“What?”

Daniel stared at the screen.

“I found something.”

He turned the monitor.

An old security archive appeared.

Date:

October 14.

Three years earlier.

The night of the crash.

Alejandro stepped closer.

Daniel opened the file.

A hidden camera recording appeared.

A location.

A private warehouse outside New York.

The video was damaged.

But one thing was clear.

A car arrived.

A man stepped out.

Victor Moretti.

Alejandro’s face became emotionless.

Victor opened the back door.

A small child stepped out.

A child wearing a pink ribbon.

Nobody breathed.

The video continued.

Victor looked around.

Then another person appeared.

Helena Voss.

Bruno whispered:

“They were together.”

Daniel nodded.

The footage continued.

Victor handed something to Helena.

A document.

Then he said something.

The audio was damaged.

Daniel enhanced it.

Static filled the room.

Then a voice appeared.

Victor.

“We only need the father to believe she died.”

Alejandro stepped back.

The world became silent.

The video continued.

Helena asked:

“And the girl?”

Victor answered:

“She will become someone else.”

The screen went black.

Nobody spoke.

Alejandro stared at the monitor.

His entire life had been built around one truth.

Now that truth was a lie.

His own family had stolen his daughter.

A sound came from the doorway.

Everyone turned.

A guard stood there.

Terrified.

“Sir…”

Alejandro looked at him.

“What?”

The guard swallowed.

“We found the person controlling the signal.”

Daniel stood.

“Where?”

The guard looked toward the underground tunnels.

“Below the mansion.”

Bruno immediately reached for his weapon.

“Impossible.”

The guard looked afraid.

“There is a room under the old wine cellar.”

Alejandro froze.

Because there was only one person who knew about that room.

May you like

His father.

And Victor.
